The Gospel

John 3:16 - For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life. John 17:2-3 - [Just as] You have granted Him power and authority over all flesh (all humankind), [now glorify Him] so that He may give eternal life to all whom You have given Him. And this is eternal life: [it means] to know (to perceive, recognize, become acquainted with, and understand) You, the only true and real God, and [likewise] to know Him, Jesus [as the] Christ (the Anointed One, the Messiah), Whom You have sent.

Power Thoughts: 12 Strategies to Win the Battle of the Mind (Book Preview)

Using themes from other books in her ample catalogue--worry, perseverance, managing emotions--Meyer breaks her suggestions into several digestible lists, backed by a "Power Pack" of Bible verses at the end of each chapter. She offers enthusiastic encouragement, but also requires action, here in the form of practice, discipline, and continual meditation on the 12 motivational thoughts. Critics of the positive thinking movement (Meyer obliquely acknowledges a debt to the pioneering Norman Vincent Peale) will continue to find downsides in this book, among them failure to sufficiently acknowledge the pain of suffering and an ignorance of intractable mental illness. Critics of Meyer will say she sounds like an infomercial ("You will see amazing results"). Yet her many fans will continue to appreciate her upbeat attitude and her ability to offer practical tips on the toughest topics.

She discusses the way that the brain processes and stores memories and thoughts, and then - emotion by emotion - she explains how we can manage our reactions to those emotions. By doing that, she gives the reader a toolbox for managing the way we react to the onslaught of feelings that can wreak havoc on our lives.

In Pursuit of Peace: 21 Ways to Conquer Anxiety, Fear and Discontentment (Book Preview).

Drawing on the lessons she learned through personal experience and from the Bible, Meyer supplies readers with 21 "peacekeeper" tips—some more practical than others—such as "Trust the Lord of Peace," "Stay Supernaturally Relaxed," "Avoid Financial Pressure" and "Beware of Idle Talk."

Above all else, however, she emphasizes that peace can be found by staying in good standing with God (your Righteousness in Christ Jesus), accepting oneself and making peace with others.

As in her usual can-do (all things are possible in Christ Jesus) style, Meyer challenges her fellow Christians to be courageous, confident and discerning, and she invokes Bible passages to drive home her message. She’s also brutally honest about her own weaknesses, which lends further credence to her teachings. While Meyer doesn’t offer much advice that hasn’t been covered by countless other self-help books, her tale of personal growth should inspire her countless fans.

The Father's Love

Eric was a naughty and notorious little boy.

He was always getting into all kinds of trouble. In fact, the only thing he ever excelled in was getting into trouble. His grades were in the doldrums. Nobody liked him. His teachers wrote him off as a pest. Parents of his schoolmates forbade any form of association with him.

Eric was an outcast!

Yet, every time Eric's father was called to the principal's office, he would say:

Eric is my son. I love him”.

Eric has accepted his social branding. He never believed his father was serious about loving him because of his social status.

Everybody ranted at Eric's father saying: “It is his fault that his son has become like this!”

Eventually, Eric failed himself out of school and ended up a gangster.

Yet, every time Eric's father bailed him out from the police station, he would say:

Eric is my son. I love him”.

One fine day, Eric was charged in court. In the defence's stand, Eric's father said:

Eric is my son. I love him”.

The judge was exasperated. He lashed out at Eric's father saying:

Don't you know that your love for your son is the reason he is here today?”

To that, Eric's father replied:

Your honor. Eric is my son. I love him. But that doesn't mean I love his actions. And the reason he is here today is not because of my love for him. It is because he doesn't believe that I love him. Let me take his place of punishment so that my son can go free.”

Right at that moment, Eric was released from the prison of condemnation. Right there and then, Eric was a success because he was finally convinced that his father loved him, even during those times when his heart was far away from his father [Romans 5:8].

Eric was sentenced to five years imprisonment.

At the end of the five years, Eric's father was no longer physically present with him. But Eric walked out of prison filled with the sense of his father's love in him. With that sense of love, he went on to conquer all odds against him and became a resounding success.

Today, hear Father God saying this to you:

You are my child. I love you.”

Just like Joseph in the Bible, he was a success even when he was still a slave. All because God was with him. Joseph eventually became the second-in-command of the entire Egypt, reporting only to Pharaoh. [Genesis 39:2]

Today, God is not only with us, He is for us. And since He is for us, who can be against us? [Romans 8:31] Who shall lay anything against us, God's elect, because it is God who has justified us. [Romans 8:33]

Justify what? Justified us to enjoy all the blessings He has prepared for us. God is justified in justifying us because His only Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, had shed His precious Blood on the Cross more than two thousand years ago to make it legally possible for Him to do so.

Sin must be punished. And it has been punished on the body of Jesus Christ!

And with that, we have been justified for all things!

Satan or situation says:

Adam the representative of mankind has surrendered his dominion over this world to me. In so doing, he has also together with all mankind, subjected themselves to me [Romans 5:12]. I, satan, now rule the world [John 14:30]. I can give wealth to whoever I choose and I can bring all kinds of harm to the whole of the human race. I control the circumstances [Mathew 4:8-9]. Now, you weak humans [Romans 7:18-19], who are you to come against me?

The beloved child of God says:

The Resurrected Jesus Christ is my justification for all things [Romans 8:32]. By His Resurrection, He has made me your master [Luke 10:19].

By His death on the Cross, His burial, His Resurrection and Ascension, He has disarmed you and ransomed me from you! [Colossians 2:15, Matthew 20:28, Colossians 1:13]

You may still have power and dominion over this world. But I am in this world but not of this world [John 17:15-17]. You have no dominion over me because I am under grace. [Romans 6:14]

On the contrary, because of what Jesus has done, He has been highly exalted by God, your creator. And God has given Him the Name that is above all names. The name at which all knees must bow of the things in heaven, of the things in the earth, and of the things under the earth [Ephesians 1:20-22]. And Jesus has given that authority in His Name to me [Acts 4:9-11]! You are now subjected to me in that Name!

Jesus has made me priest and king [1 Peter 2:9]. And where the word of the king is, there is power [Ecclesiastes 8:4]!

The perfect finished work of Jesus Christ has given me heath and wealth.

Isa 53:4-5
4. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Psalms 91:5-7
5. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6. Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

Psalms 23:1
THE LORD is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack.

2 Corinthians 8:9
For you are becoming progressively acquainted with and recognizing more strongly and clearly the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ (His kindness, His gracious generosity, His undeserved favor and spiritual blessing), [in] that though He was [so very] rich, yet for your sakes He became [so very] poor, in order that by His poverty you might become enriched (abundantly supplied).

The justification for everything I want and need is found in Jesus Christ! [2 Corinthians 9:8]

You no longer have any ownership over all things that are mine!

Now in Jesus' Name, I command you to release your hold on all things that Jesus' Blood has purchased for me!

Thank You Abba Father for blessing me through Jesus Christ by the power of the blessed Holy Spirit!

Spiritual Taste Buds

The things of God are to be spiritually discerned [1 Corinthians 2:14].

What is meant by that?

It is like this. For a person who has not taste buds, all things would taste the same – BLAND!

Try describing or explaining to that person the tastes of saltiness, sweetness, bitterness, sourness and you would be wasting your time [1 Corinthians 1:18-23]. You can do that until kingdom comes and that person would still be ignorant. Is that person to blame? No! That person remains ignorant because of the lack of taste buds.

It is the same with the things of God. The natural man needs to be renewed in his inner man, The Spiritual Man, his real self before he can ever begin to appreciate the goodness of God. How to do that?

Invite and receive Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour. At that very moment, you receive Eternal Life [John 3:16] (the spiritual taste buds) to enjoy the things of God. In that magical and miraculous moment, you become a New Creation [2 Corinthians 5:17]; a New Race. In a flash, you become a part of God's big family!

Jesus Christ is your Brother and the Almighty God, the Creator of the Universe, is your loving Father [Romans 8:15-17, Galatians 4:5-6, 28, 1 John 4:6 ].

The fact that you are still reading this means Jesus has chosen you [John 15:19]. Receive your taste buds RIGHT NOW! If you enjoy good food, then you would appreciate the importance of taste buds.

Food glorious food! What is the use of a gourmet spread before you if you have not taste buds to enjoy?

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE ALL THAT JESUS HAS DONE FOR YOU, AND MAKE HIM YOUR PERSONAL LORD AND SAVIOUR, JUST TELL HIM:

Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me and dying for me on the cross. Your precious blood washes me clean of every sin. You are my Lord and my Saviour, now and forever. I believe that You rose from the dead and that You are alive today. Because of Your finished work, I am now a beloved child of God and heaven is my home. Thank You for giving me eternal life, and filling my heart with Your peace and joy. Amen!

I cannot begin to tell you all the good things our Brother Jesus Christ has in store for you and I. The good things He had purchased for us with His life! [ John 1:16]

He willingly laid down His life for us [John 10:11]! He gave up all Godliness in Him to come all the way down to earth to become a mere human being [John 1:1, John 1:14]. He endured all forms of sufferings, tortures, mockeries, ridicules and insolences from mankind. Eventually, He was treacherously betrayed to be flogged until His entire body became one gigantic open wound before His cruxificion on the Cross [Matthew 27]!

He shed His precious Blood to ratify a New Covenant [Matthew 26:26-28, Mark 14:22-24, Luke 12:15-20, 1 Corinthians 11:24-26] a Covenant that paid for ALL things for you and I [Romans 8:32, 2 Corinthians 8:9, 1 Corinthians 3:22, Philippians 4:19] ! It is like walking into a shopping mall and taking anything you like because ALL things have been paid for. And the receipt is His resurrection from the dead [Romans 5:10].

By His Death, Burial and Resurrection, we are Destined to Reign in life and to enjoy His Unmerited Favors [Romans 5:17]! It is interesting that the scripture reference for reigning in life contains the numbers 5 and 17. In Bible numerics, “5” is the number of Grace and “17” that of Victory. So, Grace gives us Victory!

And Jesus Christ is Grace personified [John 1:17]!

We have all been ransomed [kidnapped] by satan the moment Adam (the first man and representative of all mankind) surrendered his dominion to satan. With that, sin [a noun – place, person or thing] entered into the world and reign over all mankind, who has since then been cursed [Romans 5:1-21]. But praise be to God for sending His only Beloved Son Jesus Christ Who conquered satan with His sacrificial death on the Cross [ Colossians 1:13, Colossian 2:13-15]. He rose from the dead three days later on a Sunday morning after defeating satan in the place of perdition. The shedding of His precious Blood on the Cross, with Him hung on a tree, had redeemed us from all curses [Galatians 3:13]! Jesus' Blood is the ransom money that had redeemed us [ 1 Corinthians 1:30, 1 Timothy 2:6, 1 Peter 1:18]!

The Almighty God, the Creator of the Universe, did all that through His only Beloved Son, Jesus Christ to tell and prove to you and I one thing – He loves us [Roman 5:8]!

What would you do when you are head over heels in love with someone? We guys love to boast of digging our hearts to prove our love. We talk only as a figure of speech. To me, God did just that! [1 John 4:10]. And God's kind of love is described in 1 Corinthians 13.

The Bible : Word and Food
I heard a sermon from my Senior Pastor Joseph Prince of New Creation Church that as we behold the glory of Jesus Christ, we become transformed according to His image [2 Corinthians 3:18]. That got me really interested.

I remember my schooling days as a sprinter and long-jumper. I would stare at posters of my favourite athlete then – Carl Lewis. I would watch tapes of him in action ; his sprinting style, his double-cycle-in-the-air for the long jump. Then, I would imagine myself doing exactly the same. And I would feel confidence bursting forth from within me. But alas, it was but a feeling!

So I believe it is the same with beholding the glory of Jesus Christ. The only difference is that the blessed Holy Spirit is the power of that transformation.

The Bible has been to me a coconut; hard and dry on the outside. But since that sermon, I have been cracking it open and I have been taking bits of the sweet meat and juice.

I can now understand what Roberts Liardon was writing in his three volumes of God's Generals. Why people would give up their lives to preserve the Word and to meet underground.

Proverbs 4:20-22 is indeed the Truth!

My Father God blesses you with grace and peace through my Brother Jesus Christ by the power of the blessed Holy Spirit. Amen!
